Family

Elisabeth had one full-blood sister, Cunigunde of Poland, who married Louis VI the Roman. After Aldona's death, Casimir went on to marry three more times. His second wife was Adelaide of Hesse, who bore Casmir no children. He was never properly divorced from Adelaide before secretly wedding his mistress, Christina. She did not give Casimir any children either. Casimir remarried for the fourth and final time to Hedwig of Sagan, daughter of Henry V of Iron. They had three daughters: Anna, Countess of Celje, Kunegunda and Hedwig of Poland. Elisabeth did not live to see the birth of her three half-sisters.

When Casimir married Hedwig, he was not properly divorced from Adelaide and Christina, so his marriage to Hedwig was considered to be bigamous and their three daughters illegitimate.

Marriage

Elisabeth was originally betrothed to her future brother-law, Louis VI the Roman.[1] Her father needed to make an agreement with his father, Louis IV, Holy Roman Emperor. Casimir later decided to marry his younger daughter, Cunigunde to Louis the Roman.

Directed primarily against Teutonic Order there was an agreement on February 24, 1343 in Poznan between Elisabeth's father and Wartislaw IV, Duke of Pomerania. They decided that Elisabeth should marry Wartislaw's son, Boguslaw. The wedding took place in Poznan on 28 February 1343. Elisabeth received a dowry from her father of 20 thousand kop (cents in Prague).

Elizabeth is a patron of the High School in Szczecinek, an annual feast takes place there in her honour, often accompanied by a banquet staged in Wierzynek.

On 28 February 1343 Elisabeth married Bogislaw V, Duke of Pomerania. Elisabeth mainly lived in Prague Castle or Castle of Darlowo during her marriage. They had two children:

Her daughter, Elisabeth of Pomerania was issued in 1363 by the grandfather Casimir the Great in Krakow to marry the Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV of Luxembourg. One of the many feasts was one at the Congress of Kraków, at the house of Mikolaj Wierzynek. Elisabeth of Poland, however, was never there to see her daughter get married. She died in 1361 at a monastery of the Order of Saint Augustine in Świątkach, she was also buried there.

Her daughter Elizabeth of Pomerania was the mother of many children, among them were Anne of Bohemia who married Richard II of England. Elizabeth's son Sigismund, Holy Roman Emperor married Mary of Hungary and Barbara of Celje. Elizabeth died in 1361 aged thirty five. Her husband married Adelheid of Brunswick-Grubenhagen the following year; they had four children.

Her son, Casimir (Kaźko) was slated to become Casimir the Great's successor as King of Poland but was pushed aside byu Louis I of Hungary, and instead succeeded Bogislaw in 1364 as duke of Pomerania.[3]
